Matt Simon

Matt retired from the Peoria (AZ) Police Department in 2021 after a twenty-five year law enforcement career.  He started his police career as a Deputy Marshal in 1995 and was one of the original members of the Fountain Hills Marshal’s Department in Fountain Hills, AZ.  In 1998, Matt transferred to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (Phoenix, AZ) where he was assigned to Patrol Operations as a Deputy Sheriff and as a Field Training Officer.  He was then assigned as a District Detective for District IV in 1999.  In 2002, Matt transferred to the Peoria Police Department as a Police Officer in Patrol Operations and was quickly assigned as a Field Training Officer and acting patrol squad supervisor.

Matt was promoted to Sergeant in 2005 where he worked assignments as a supervisor in Patrol Operations, Neighborhood Action Unit supervisor, Gang Unit/Fugitive Apprehension Unit supervisor, K9 Unit supervisor, a background investigator in the Hiring Unit, and an investigator and auditor in the Professional Standards Unit.  In 2015, Matt was promoted to Lieutenant with assignments as a Patrol Operations Watch Commander, Manager of the Personnel and Training Section, Manager of the Field Training/PTO Program, Department CISM Coordinator, and Manager of the Professional Standards Unit.

After retiring from law enforcement, Matt was a Public Safety Consultant with the National Public Safety Group prior to relocating to Florida in 2022 and working as a Realtor for a family-owned real estate brokerage.  Matt missed connecting with those within the public safety sector and is now back as part of the great team at the National Public Safety Group as a Strategic Account Manager.

Matt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety Administration from Grand Canyon University.  He is an AZPOST General Instructor, trained in law enforcement inspections and auditing rules/procedures, records/property management, and is a graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Internal Affairs training program. Matt and his wife have two children and enjoy living in the southwest gulf coast region of Florida with its active lifestyle and beautiful beaches.
